2001 Ripken Late Harvest Viognier
The central valley has a history of making great dessert wines. As with many things in life, history is repeating itself. Viognier has found the perfect place to make a vendanges tardives (late harvest). There is plenty of hang time, high sugars and just a subtle hint of botrytis resulting in this stunning wine. We used four different types of 100% new French oak Burgundy style barrels with medium plus to high toast during the aging of this wine.
