2000 Ripken Vineyard Late Harvest Viognier
"The central valley has a history of making great dessert wines. As with many things in life, history is repeating itself. Viognier has found the perfect place to make a vendge tardine (late harvest). There is plenty of hang time, high sugars and just a subtle hint of botrytis resulting in this stunning wine. We used four different types of 100% new French oak with medium plus to high toast during the aging process." -Jeff Cohn Tasting Notes Golden yellow in color with an aroma of honeyed apricots and peaches lightly laced with cinnamon and vanilla. The truest expression of Viognier. Enjoy as an Aperitif or as a dessert on its own.
JC CELLARS Viognier Lodi Late Harvest Alexandra Ripken Vineyard 2006 Score: 92 | $24/375ml Like liquid honey, with apricot, fig and marmalade flavors that glide on the palate, which has a creamy, buttery quality. Impressive for its purity, concentration and persistence, with just enough acidity to keep this from being cloying. Drink now through 2014. 233 cases made. —M.W.
