2000 Ripken Vineyard Late Harvest Viognier

"The central valley has a history of making great dessert wines. As with many things in life, history is repeating itself. Viognier has found the perfect place to make a vendge tardine (late harvest). There is plenty of hang time, high sugars and just a subtle hint of botrytis resulting in this stunning wine. We used four different types of 100% new French oak with medium plus to high toast during the aging process."  -Jeff Cohn

JC CELLARS Viognier Lodi Late Harvest Alexandra Ripken Vineyard 2006 Score: 92 | $24/375ml

Like liquid honey, with apricot, fig and marmalade flavors that glide on the palate, which has a creamy, buttery quality. Impressive for its purity, concentration and persistence, with just enough acidity to keep this from being cloying. Drink now through 2014. 233 cases made. —M.W.
